Job description

We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our product engineering team. The successful candidate will actively participate in the design and development of intermodal trailers, from the conceptual phase through to production support.

Your role in this trajectory

Under the supervision of the product engineering manager, the designer will produce 3D modeling, 2D manufacturing drawings, as well as electrical and pneumatic diagrams, in close collaboration with the engineering, production and quality teams.

Tasks
  • Create 3D mechanical designs for intermodal trailers and their sub-assemblies (chassis, welded structures, mechanical components, integrated systems).
  • Produce 2D technical production drawings (general arrangement drawings, detail drawings, material lists, tolerances, welding symbols).
  • Develop and maintain electrical diagrams (lighting, harnesses, sensors, connections, control components).
  • Develop and maintain pneumatic diagrams (braking systems, valves, lines, actuators).
  • Collaborating with product engineers to translate functional, regulatory, and customer requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Incorporate manufacturing, welding, assembly, maintenance, and cost constraints into the designs.
  • Ensure that designs comply with applicable standards (transport, safety, electrical and pneumatic standards).
  • Participate in design reviews and the technical validation process.
  • Supporting production during the launch of new products or technical modifications.
  • Update the technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement activities of existing products.
Required qualifications

Training

  • DEC or BAC in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or related field.

Experience

  • Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment (junior to intermediate level depending on the position).
  • Experience in the design of welded structures or industrial vehicles (an asset).
Skills

Technical knowledge

  • Excellent command of 3D and 2D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor , AutoCAD or equivalent).
  • Good understanding of welded mechanical structures.
  • Ability to produce clear and complete manufacturing plans.
  • Basic knowledge of electro-pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Mechanical plans
    • Welding symbols
    • Diagrams electric and pneumatic
  • Knowledge of metal manufacturing processes (cutting, bending, welding, assembly).

SKILLS personal

  • Rigour and attention to detail.
  • Analytical mind and approach structured.
  • Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
