Job description

We are looking for a motivated strategic buyer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining long-lasting business relationships with our suppliers. You will have the opportunity to collaborate on various projects, leveraging your negotiation skills to establish agreements and annual price lists.

Tasks
  • Negotiation and management of long-term purchasing agreements (Raw materials, subcontracting, tooling, transportation)
  • Negotiate and establish contractual agreements, price lists, etc.
  • Daily purchasing of raw materials (STEEL) and supplies necessary for production
  • Be responsible for the strategic negotiations of all commodities for the complete manufacture of the final product.
  • Conduct negotiation and drafting of contracts for various services and/or products, in collaboration with the legal department when required.
  • Measure and analyze the performance of subcontractors and plan action plans to improve supplier performance.
  • Develop and maintain excellent business relationships with suppliers.
  • Optimize the list of active and potential suppliers to ensure the best quality and price.
  • Develop and maintain performance indicators for key suppliers.
  • Analyze and monitor commodity trends to ensure sourcing at the best price, on time, consistently.
  • Plan and validate the procurement of all materials for production.
  • Ensure sound inventory management.
  • Participate in various continuous improvement and/or cost reduction projects within the company.
  • Apply company policies in the execution of tasks.
  • Share learning experiences, ideas for improvements, and knowledge for the benefit of colleagues.
  • Any other related tasks.
Required qualifications
  • Holding a degree in supply chain management or any other degree in a relevant field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the steel industry.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the steel field.
  • Fluent in both French and English, spoken and written (mandatory).
  • Possessing good technical knowledge in industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Having basic knowledge in project management.
Skills
  • Be focused on total costs (transportation, material costs, inventory, warehousing, risks, customs).
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and skills in using multiple applications and/or databases.
  • Show strong interpersonal communication skills oriented towards customer service (internally) and suppliers (externally).
  • Master the Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills in work, prioritization, and task follow-up.
  • Have a curious nature, not afraid to ask questions, and be proactive in advancing their work.
  • Take ownership of and carry out assigned tasks and responsibilities autonomously.
  • Have a positive attitude in all situations.
  • Possess a strong ability to work in a team (e.g., continuous improvement projects).
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic and changing environment.
