Job description

We are looking for an experienced Master Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in painting preparation and application, with the ability to work independently and maintain high-quality standards. A deep understanding of painting techniques, as well as the ability to diagnose and resolve painting-related issues, is essential.

Tasks

Surface preparation

  • Clean, strip, and adequately prepare surfaces for painting.
  • Detect and correct surface preparation defects.
  • Apply sealants and carry out the necessary pre-cleaning tasks.
  • Train colleagues on best practices for surface preparation.

Painting

  • Apply paint according to quality standards and manufacturer specifications (thickness, finish, uniformity).
  • Work independently, with speed and attention to detail.
  • Master application techniques (spray, roller, brush, etc.).
  • Prepare the required paint mixes, including adjusting ratios according to recommendations.
  • Be aware of and adhere to drying times, recoat delays, product viscosity, and the influence of environmental conditions (winter/summer).
  • Detect paint defects and make touch-ups and repairs professionally, without supervision.
  • Perform self-inspection of the quality of the completed work.
  • Mentor and guide other painters in their tasks.

Maintenance of equipment and product management

  • Adjust and maintain the pumps, guns, and painting equipment (cleaning, draining, regular maintenance).
  • Ensure that there are clean and ready-to-use nozzles and air caps.
  • Manage paint containers: replacement, labeling, safe disposal.
  • Ensure cleanliness and order in painting rooms and areas.
  • Manage waste in accordance with established procedures.
  • Diligently fill out the required documents and reports (production sheets, batch tracking, etc.).
Required qualifications
  • Professional Studies Diploma (DEP) in industrial painting, machining, or equivalent training.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a related field (industrial painting or CNC).
  • Training or experience that enables the diagnosis and resolution of issues related to painting or machining.
  • Valid certification for operating a forklift.
  • Certification for the use of overhead cranes.
Skills
  • Reading and interpretation of technical drawings and plans (in inches and millimeters).
  • Mastery of both imperial and metric measurement systems.
  • Ability to perform accurate measurements using appropriate instruments.
  • Good knowledge of metals and their behavior during cutting.
  • Ability to read and modify a CNC machine program (asset).
  • Attention to detail, rigor, and autonomy.
  • Skill in working safely when handling metal parts.
  • Sense of responsibility and good work organization.
